The Alamo's iconic facade, with its distinctive curved gable, wasn’t part of the original mission’s design. It was actually added years after the famous 1836 battle. The curved "hump" was likely constructed in the 1850s when the U.S. Army used the site as a supply depot. The original mission church was much plainer in appearance!
