SOUTHWEST DESERT FLORA Shot Glass
Southwestern American desert flora has the extraordinary ability of the creosote bush (Larrea tridentata) to clone itself, forming some of the oldest living organisms on Earth. Known as "King Clone," a creosote bush ring in the Mojave Desert is estimated to be around 11,700 years old. The plant reproduces through a process called clonal propagation, where new shoots emerge from the root system, creating genetically identical offshoots that can spread over a large area, allowing the bush to survive extreme desert conditions for millennia.
